Baby Shower Favors: Homemade Sugar Scrub
Making a homemade sugar scrub for a baby shower is an inexpensive but unique favor to give guests as a way to say thank you for attending. Picking the perfect favor for a baby shower can be difficult. You do not want to spend a lot of money but you still want the favor to be cute and have your guests' enjoy it. Below you will find an easy tutorial on how to make your own homemade sugar scrub to use as a baby shower favor.
Homemade Sugar Scrub Tutorial
I have been to a ton of baby showers. I have to say that I am a little bit disappointed when I get a favor that I know I will not really use. Having a homemade sugar scrub as your baby shower favor will not only show your guests how thoughtful you are but it will not break the bank. It also a favor that they can use over and over.
You are also able to customize this favor to fit the theme of your shower. I used baby food jars to put the homemade sugar scrub into, but you can use any jars you would like. If you have time to plan ahead start asking some of your friends and family to save any glass jars or containers that you could use. The only thing I would suggest is to make sure that they are not too big because you will need a lot more sugar scrub to fill them. Here is how I made the homemade sugar scrub.
Homemade Sugar Scrub Ingredients
- 2 Cups Brown Sugar {lightly packed}
- 2 Cups Sugar
- 1 Cup Oil {I used olive oil, you can almond oil too}
- 1 tsp. Vanilla or you can use essential oils {I love using the lavender and jasmine in this recipe!}
Homemade Sugar Scrub Directions
Pour the brown sugar and the regular sugar into a large mixing bowl. Next add the oil and vanilla and stir. Make sure you stir it thoroughly so that it is consistent all the way through. You do not have to add the vanilla. I added it for the scent. You can then put the brown sugar scrub into separate glass jars to make the baby shower favors! Although it smells good enough to eat, PLEASE DON’T!
I love that you can customize this favor if you know the gender of the baby or add decorations that match the theme of the baby shower. Here are some suggestions for personalizing: add ribbons, thank you labels, stickers, baby due date, recipe, etc. You can even use different ingredients for a variety of scents. You can see in the picture below how you could easily add a chalkboard label to the top and write the mom-to-be's name, the baby shower date or even just Thank You on top!
