Family Christmas Traditions
I have been trying to start some new Christmas traditions with my family now that my boys are getting a little bit older. Our family loves this time of year so we want to create memories and traditions that will last a lifetime. 
New Christmas Traditions for your Family
It is nice to start a Christmas tradition that your family can look forward to doing this year. This year we have started a Christmas Eve Box tradition with our children. We put together small boxes with a few items to share with each other on Christmas Eve. If you are looking for a new tradition to start with your family here are few suggestions below.
Christmas Traditions
New Ornament:Every holiday season you can buy a unique ornament or set of ornaments that speaks to the family interests or status for that year. For example if a child is a basketball player, get him/her a basketball ornament. Another example of the ornament tradition is to get an ornament for every location in the world that they family has visited. Make sure that each ornament has the year on it and if you prefer the names of your family members. This is especially nice when the children are older and you can look back and see how the family had grown over the years.Decorating:Other traditions can center around the decorating of the house or tree for the holidays. This is a great way to get the whole family into the holiday spirit. Regardless of your faith or the holiday that you celebrate, the holidays are certainly a time of giving and joy.Giving to Others:Often the best traditions will center around giving to others and not those in the immediate family. There are many charities where presents and donations can be given on a yearly basis. I enjoy the charities where you “adopt” a family and provide items that they ask for on their list. This helps put a name to the people that you are helping. This is also a great way to teach your children the importance of helping people in need.Volunteer Work:Other forms of charitable giving involve the giving of time. A nice holiday tradition is to spend time at local shelters assisting and serving meals to the less fortunate. Not only will this bring the family together but it will also provide teachable moments about what the holidays are truly all about.
