Tackle Your Summer Reading List with Audiobooks + Free Trial
There is nothing more I enjoy then curling up to read a great book. Reading is honestly one of my favorite hobbies. It is the one thing that I can do for myself. However, being a parent often means I don’t have the time to sit down and read for hours. In a busy day to day life like mine, a day of reading just isn't in the works anymore. Since I still love to devour books and discover great stories, I have been looking for an alternative to give me the “me-time,” I crave without sacrificing my time with family. Last year, I self-published my book, Breakthrough: The Complete Guide to Growing Your Platform & Blogging Your Way to a Full-Time Income. Instead of only offering an ebook or paperback, I decided to use Audible so that readers who simply don’t have the time to read like myself could listen to my book. This got me thinking. Instead of only using Audible for my own book I could use it to still read the books on my Summer Bucket List. Audible is convenient, affordable, and will help me to achieve my summer reading goals. Have you ever used Audible? Right now you can get a 1-month free trial! Having the chance to listen to books during my daily tasks has totally revamped my love of books without sacrificing my busy schedule and family duties. If you have been uncertain about how audiobooks from Audible would work into your life, I am happy to share some of my thoughts with you. I was really uncertain about how an audiobook would feel the same as reading for me. I love the feeling of holding a real book in my hand while I read.Sitting down and reading is a guilty pleasure, so how could listening to that book work to give me the “me-time” I so often need? The truth is, an audiobook cannot replace that look and feel of a book in my hands, but it can still ignite my imagination, give me something fun to think about, and fit easily into my daily routine. This makes it just what I need to give myself that valuable time just for me, even in my busy schedule. Audible is perfect for plugging in and listening to a chapter while I wash dishes, vacuum the floors, or even workout. I get to let my brain roam to the imaginary places of the chapters I am hearing, and I don't even have to feel guilty about neglecting my duties around the house, or for my health.Ways Audible Books Fit Into My Routine:
- With the audible app available for download on Android, iPhone, Windows Phone, and almost every tablet or computing device I can listen from anywhere.
- Plug in my ear buds while doing household chores.
- Listen while I drive to and from appointments, work, shopping, or during road trips or flights.
- Listen during my daily workouts as motivation to get through longer walks or runs.
- Listen as I work on craft projects, knitting, crocheting as a way to relax.
- Listen while gardening or doing outside chores.
As you can see, Audible really is a versatile way to listen to great new and classic books. Not only can you download the latest bestseller, you can grab classic literature, and even, in many instances, tutorials or non-fiction books that may help you with business or education. Here are a few books that are on my summer reading list:
- Smarter Faster Better: The Secrets of Being Productive in Life and Business
- The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don't Work and What to Do About It
- Profit First: A Simple System to Transform Any Business from a Cash-Eating Monster to a Money-Making Machine
Audible isn't just about listening to the latest book that has been released. Audible content includes an unmatched selection of audiobooks and other audio productsHours upon hours of great listening and education at your fingertips that can fit seamlessly into your daily routine.I love the fact that Audible uses some of my favorite voices to narrate the works available for listening.I can settle in to doing dishes after dinner and listen to the clipped accent of Kate Winslet or the sultry sound of James Franco reading a tale of intrigue, romance, or even helping me to learn more about business practices.I can explore the imaginary life of the book without feeling “mommy guilt” for not getting things done. This, to me, is one of the best ways we as moms can take care of ourselves. If you've been on the fence about how you can enjoy listening to books and programs rather than reading about them, not is the time to take the leap.I can enjoy the imaginary worlds of books, learn new things to help my business and blog grow, and still feel like I am a mom that has everything in control. My kids aren't being neglected, nor are my work duties. I am able to give myself a little something special while being present, and that is worth a lot to most busy moms.Audible sponsored this post, but all opinions are mine.
