Summertime Family Grilling Made Simple

This year for Father's Day my siblings and I decided to bring our families together and celebrate Dad with a fun filled cookout. What better way to show our appreciation than some delicious food fresh off of the grill?

For our cookout, I was in charge of grabbing all of the ingredients that we needed in order to create some yummy recipes that the entire family would love. I made my shopping list and I knew just where to go. Giant Eagle is my go to grocery store and the perfect one stop shop for everything I needed.

We have a large family and wanted to keep it simple this year. Some burgers on the grill, refreshing drinks, and a cold dessert would certainly do the trick! Dad loves bacon cheddar burgers so I knew those would definitely be on the menu. Luckily, Giant Eagle's fresh meat counter had Certified Angus Beef gourmet bacon cheddar pattys on hand. I grabbed the bacon cheddar burgers from the counter and knew they would be a hit!

As the kids and I cruised through the store and grabbed what we needed, I was pleased to see that everything on our list was there. Honestly though, such a relief! Grocery shopping with kids can be a task in and of itself and having to shop at more than one store is less than appealing.

A summertime cookout is not complete without lemonade. I had been wanting to try the Lemon Lemon Sparkling Lemonade to switch things up a bit. So when I turned into the beverage aisle and saw it sitting there on the end cap, I couldn't pass it by. And boy, it did not disappoint! We grabbed a few more grilling staples and headed to the checkout.

Next stop...the family cookout!

As I mentioned, I have a big family. I am one of six children and between us so far there are six grandchildren. Keeping it simple was our goal so that we had plenty of time to enjoy each other's company.

My brother was the grill master for this meal. He sure does make a mean burger!

We created the perfect, simple grilling recipe! Certified Angus Beef gourmet bacon cheddar pattys, fresh Giant Eagle brand buns, and topped it off with Hellmann's real mayonnaise of course. We paired the burgers with fresh veggies and tater tots.

No cookout is complete without dessert! A fan favorite in our family is Klondike bars.

Following along with our theme of keeping it simple, we also created and enjoyed a delicious dessert using Klondike bars! (Recipe below)

Klondike Ice Cream Cake Recipe

Ingredients:-5 Klondike Bars (I used Original, but you can use any flavor)-6 Angel food cake dessert cups-1 8oz tub of whipped topping (room temperature)-Topping of choice - chocolate syrup, sprinkles, caramel drizzle, cookie crumbs-9x9 in baking panInstructions:1. Line bottom of baking pan with angel food cake dessert cups.2. Layer Klondike bars on top of dessert cups.3. Cover Klondike bars and dessert cups with whipped topping. Spread like you're icing a cake.4. Add toppings.5. Freeze until ready to serve.Enjoy!
