Once you have separated everything, it is time to donate or sell some of that unwanted stuff to make a little cash. To do this you can post ads on Craigslist, have a yard sale, or check Facebook for a Buy, Sell, Trade group for your local area and post the items for sale on those sites. Once you have sold all the unwanted stuff, you can take the money you made and use it to start purchasing organizational items.
Start visiting thrift stores and yard sales. Quite often you can find shelves, storage bins, containers and other useful organizational items for next to nothing at these places. Check the clearance sales at your local stores, especially after holidays when the holiday-themed stuff gets marked way down. If you do not care about the colors of the storage bins you use, these holiday-colored ones will work just fine. I love finding home organization items at our local Dollar Store. You can find some really great items for cheap!You can also repurpose things from around your house such as sauce jars, baby food jars, butter and sour cream containers. These types of things work great for storing small items like screws, buttons, paper clips, and cotton balls. You can use silverware drawer organizers for keeping pens, pencils, and markers organized in your desk drawer. Get creative!
If you check the free section on Craigslist, you may also even be able to find organizational items on there as well. You can ask friends and family if they have any kind of storage bins or shelves that they do not use or need and would like to get rid of for free or very cheap.You can then use all the items you have gotten to start organizing your home. When you are finished you will have a completely organized house that did not cost a lot of money because you were able to use the money you earned from selling your items.
